ABOUT
THe GRAHAM ARCHIVIST PROJECT

The Graham Archivist Project was initiated in the fall of 2022 as the depository for one individual’s quest in their pursuit of local history. Under the umbrella of Graham’s Old Post Office Museum and Art Center a vast wealth of historical archives of photos; rare documents; verbal history; unique videos is being accumulated for online and physical access.

The legacy and stories of those who have built and contributed to the community of Graham and the Young County area are included in this effort. As the repository for our historical items, we must always seek to be authentic, accurate, and historically correct regarding the items that are entrusted to us for preservation.

This includes what and how we display and the means in which way it is displayed.

Financial support for this unique and ongoing effort is channeled through direct contributions to the Museum for the Archivist Project and the Graham Community Foundation.

The focal point of this project is Dorman Holub, a Texas native, longtime Grahamite, and retired minister who has a passion for our local history. Dorman works tirelessly to make the Museum’s digital and visual historical collection truly unique.

Dorman was recently quoted as describing his love of history: “This “hobby” allowed me to meet people from all walks of life, all searching for the same thing. The movements and history of their ancestors. Be assured, I have met and visited with lots and lots of people. I’ve spent hours and hours reading all the newspapers in the county, searching through the county and district records, tromping through the pastures, and listening to people share their stories for 25 years.”
